About Pretty Books
“I live in two worlds. One is a world of books. I’ve been a resident of Faulkner’s Yoknapatawpha County, hunted the white whale aboard the Pequod, fought alongside Napoleon, sailed a raft with Huck and Jim, committed absurdities with Ignatius J. Reilly, rode a sad train with Anna Karenina, and strolled down Swann’s Way. It’s a rewarding world, but my second one is by far superior. My second one is populated with characters slightly less eccentric but supremely real, made of flesh and bone, full of love, who are my ultimate inspiration for everything.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What’s your favourite book?
I find this to be a really difficult question! I genuinely do not have a favourite book, but here’s some I’ve really enjoyed and would recommend: The Hunger Games trilogy, The Harry Potter series, The Book Thief, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Outsiders, Delirium, Between Shades of Gray, The Handmaid’s Tale, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Book of Lies, The Chaos Walking trilogy, Dark Inside, Unwind, A Monster Calls, Paper Towns, The Fault in Our Stars and Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares.
2. Who is your favourite author?
Again, I don’t really have a favourite author but I do love J. K. Rowling (who doesn’t?) and I also have a lot of Jodi Picoult and Cate Tiernan books. Hopefully if authors of books that I have loved write more, they’ll become a favourite author.
3. What types of books do you like to read?
I love to read any genre of young adult and adult fiction (contemporary, mystery/crime, romance…). But for me, it’s more about the plot than the genre. However, I am currently loving dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction especially.
4. Do you have any books to recommend?
You can check out the recommendation tag to see what I’ve already recommended people and what followers have recommended to me.
5. What is your opinion on e-readers?
I have a Kindle and I love it. Yes, I think print books are wonderful (would I be running this blog otherwise?) and I would always choose them over e-books if I had to, but I firmly believe that the content is the most important thing. I don’t think people who use e-readers are not “real” book lovers. (I also do not believe that e-readers are the sole cause of bookshop closures, but that’s another debate). You can read responses to questions about e-readers here.
6. Can you recommend some bookstores in London?
Waterstones, Piccadilly
Foyles, Charing Cross Road
Daunt Books, Marylebone
Southbank Book Market
The Guardian’s Independent bookshop directory may also be helpful.
7. What house were you placed in on Pottermore?
Ravenclaw!
Photos and their Credit
I did not take the majority of the photos on this blog. If I did, it’ll be tagged as “my books” or stated that it was by prettybooks.
For the ones I did not take, I strive to give credit where possible. Click on a photo to go to its original source (or at least, the source where I found the photo) or it’ll be found below the photo (submitted by, via, by, taken by, etc). If I haven’t given proper credit to a photo (if you took it or even if you didn’t and know who did) please let me know and I’ll gladly add it. Also if you see one of your photos on this blog and you want me to take it down, let me know and it’ll be removed ASAP.
Thank you to the amazing photographers whose photos I feature on this blog.
